Education access remains a challenge, particularly in remote areas, with many children unable to continue their studies beyond primary school. Healthcare services are minimal, leading to a reliance on traditional medicine and healers.
The Tribal Malayan people practice a mix of animism and Hinduism. They believe in spirits associated with nature, such as those inhabiting forests, rivers and mountains and perform rituals to honor these spirits and seek their protection. They also worship Hindu deities, particularly those associated with agriculture and fertility. Ceremonies and festivals play a significant role in their spiritual life, often involving the entire community. The coexistence of animist and Hindu beliefs reflects their deep connection to the natural world and their adaptation to external religious influences.
The Tribal Malayan people face challenges related to economic opportunities, education and healthcare. Many still rely on subsistence farming and forest resources, with limited access to alternative sources of income. Educational opportunities are scarce, leading to high dropout rates and limited literacy. Healthcare access is inadequate, particularly in remote areas, resulting in poor health outcomes and high infant mortality rates. Infrastructure development, including improved roads, clean water supply, and access to electricity, is crucial to enhancing their quality of life. Initiatives focused on sustainable livelihoods, education and healthcare are vital for the community's development.
